A cockroach and Aslan
Hi friends! Keeping this week’s newsletter short as I’ve been happily meandering through kiwi land 🥝🇳🇿 Hope you enjoy my red-eye flight musings.
a doodle
This doodle is inspired by recent real life events. Specifically from last Thursday night. In my house. Typically, I’m the calm-and-collected type who is proficent in smooshing cockroaches with my ever-reliable taw-hai [拖鞋 / slippers]. But alas, my nervous system activated fight-flight-freeze mode against this vermin monster, and this is me still recovering.
a quote
“Aslan" said Lucy "you're bigger".
"That is because you are older, little one" answered he.
"Not because you are?"
"I am not. But every year you grow, you will find me bigger.”
In previous reads of Prince Caspian and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, my favorite characters were a toss-up between Edmund, Eustace, and Reepicheep. This time around, I loved Lucy. I want to be more like her. Lucy goes through real moments of doubt and fear and peer pressure. Yet her faith trajectory is that of growth. It’s a childlike faith. And it’s a maturing faith. What started as magic in Narnia gave her eyes to perceive her Savior in her own everyday world of England. For now she loves Him. And she knows His voice.
Thank you for reading! May we find Jesus to be bigger to us next year than we did this year. (But not the cockroaches.)
love,
reb
