on thinking wordlessly
and a setlist
a sketch
I’ve thoroughly been enjoying teaching myself to draw with this library book. The tldr is: think wordlessly. To look at my left hand and not say I’m drawing a finger, a nail, a knuckle. But to look at my left hand and think I see this line, I see that line. And just draw the lines I see.
To unlearn how my brain likes to shortcut with symbols and schemas.
And just draw the lines I see.
To learn how to look, how to perceive.
And just draw the lines I see.

a setlist
And sometimes it’s best to think with other people’s words. Can't wait for this Sunday's songs that I've been marinating in.
Only A Holy God (D)
All Sufficient Merit (F)
Such An Awesome God (F)
God Is For Us (B)
Let The Nations Be Glad (B)
be well, friends!

never thought about it that way, but thinking wordlessly is such an accurate description of drawing—and photography too, really any kind of visual art. the inner writer in me makes this difficult but sometimes going into something with no expectations is just what i need! love the sketches (:
I love that about drawing or painting, how it’s really a bunch of lines, angles, colors. I realize that I am unpracticed in seeing in parts! Also, I love sketching hands - I did that for a whole month in a high school general art class.
