celebrating our smallness
because we have a big God
Dear friends,
Two nuggets I’m mulling over this week.
One by Becky Pippert (via redeemer downtown):
Jesus was not ashamed of being tired, hungry, and needing to depend on God. Neither should we! Our creatureliness was not dependent on the Fall. So, how can we learn to embrace being human and to put down our god-complexes and say You are God, I am not? Friends, we need to celebrate our smallness. God is delighted to use you just the way you are. My grace is sufficient for you; my power is made perfect in weakness. All our life and ministry flows from our union with Christ, who is the source of true power. God is delighted to reveal His glory and power through our inadequacies.
One by Ray Ortlund (via claire & leah <3):
How big God is matters more than how frightening the future is.
What better way to celebrate our smallness than voluntarily climb a mountain where we tangibly feel our tiredness and thirst (and comically-elevated heart rates), and then be rewarded with this panoramic view of the Blue Ridge Mountains atop Mary’s Rock. The heavens declare the glory of God 🤩
be well, friends! the christian life is like a hike. one step at a time. then look upward to see all that God is doing and has done 🥹 (also fall in occasional mud along the way lols)
love,
reb

I love this Rebecca! Like fresh wind in my sails.
